Case studies

Case studies will show how universities use Oxonia, in their own words and with their permission. Until then, this page explains the outcomes Oxonia is built for.

What will appear here

Each case study will describe a real university, the problem it set out to solve, how it used Oxonia and what changed. We will publish only with the university's written permission and will check every figure with them.

No case studies are published yet. The examples below are illustrative. They describe typical situations, not named customers.

Illustrative: a large first-year course

A department teaches a first-year course to several hundred students, many learning in a second language. With Oxonia Scribe, students follow live captions in their own language, then revise from a summary cited to the minute, a mind map and a quiz. The lecturer checks class insights each week to see where quiz scores drop.

Outcomes the department might measure: how many students open study packs, how quiz scores change over the term and what students say about following lectures.

Illustrative: exam season in a busy faculty

An exams office faces thousands of handwritten scripts. Booklets are scanned with phones, even offline. Oxonia Mark marks each answer against the approved rubric, quoting the words that earned each mark. Only uncertain, illegible, borderline and flagged scripts go to the review queue. A named examiner approves every script.

Outcomes the faculty might measure: time from exam to released results, examiner time spent per script and the number of appeals.

Illustrative: governance without paper

A university secretariat supports Council, Senate and many committees. With Oxonia Senate, papers are compiled into packs with a one-page summary each. Members read on tablets. Minutes are drafted from the transcript and the secretary approves and e-signs them.

Outcomes it might measure: time to circulate packs, time from meeting to signed minutes and overdue actions.

Illustrative: fees and retention

A bursary wants fewer students leaving because of money. With Oxonia Advance, it sends payment plans and reminders through Oxonia Wallet, finds students at risk of leaving and matches them to scholarships.

Outcomes it might measure: fees collected on time and students supported to stay.
