Online lectures

Zoom

Not every lecture happens in a hall. Oxonia Scribe can take Zoom cloud recordings and turn them into the same study packs as any other lecture.

What the integration does

Oxonia Scribe records anywhere: in the lecture hall, online, or by uploading a recording. That includes Zoom cloud recordings.

When a lecture taught on Zoom is brought into Scribe, students get the same study pack they would get from a lecture in the hall.

What students get

  • A summary, with each point cited to the minute.
  • Key moments, so they jump straight to the part they missed.
  • A mind map with flashcards.
  • A quiz with spaced repetition. Questions they got wrong come back until they get them right.
  • An audio recap for revision on the move.

Seminars and vivas

Research seminars and vivas held online can also be recorded into a searchable archive. See Oxonia Discover.

For lecturers

Lecturers who teach on Zoom do not need to change how they teach. Class insights show what students replay, where quiz scores drop and which questions they ask, whether the lecture was online or in person.

See Oxonia Teach.

Recording hours

Scribe includes recording hours with each plan. Extra hours are available at £900 per 500 hours. See the pricing page.

Getting recordings in

Lecturers bring their Zoom cloud recordings into Scribe, or upload any other recording. Study packs then sync to Moodle, Canvas or Blackboard through LTI 1.3 if your university uses them.

Common questions

Do live captions work for Zoom lectures? Live captions work in Scribe live rooms. For lectures taught on Zoom, the study pack is made from the cloud recording.

Can we upload recordings from other tools? Yes. Scribe accepts uploaded recordings, so lectures recorded elsewhere can still become study packs.

Who can see the recordings? Students on the course, through roles and course rosters. See Roles and permissions.

Universities that teach a mix of online and in-person lectures can use one study pack format for both. Students revise the same way whatever the room, and lecturers see class insights for every lecture in one place.
